Governor's International Education Day
Securing Virginia's Future Through International Education
Why Governor's International Education Day?
To recognize the importance of a globally-educated citizenry in the 21st century and to celebrate the start of International Education Week 2005, the Virginia Council for International Education (VaCIE) invites the Commonwealth's international educators, area specialists, international students and study abroad returnees to Williamsburg, Virginia, on November 14, 2005. Governor's International Education Day will highlight the impact and importance of international education to Virginia and the nation. Currently about 12,000 international students study in Virginia and over 6,000 students annually study abroad through Virginia institutions.
Who Will Participate?
Participants will include international educators, area specialists, international students and study abroad returnees from any Virginia college or university. Only institutions (not individual students) may register with VaCIE to participate in this event. Individual institutions select their delegations and arrange for transportation to Williamsburg. General Assembly Delegates and Senators from the districts of participating institutions will also be invited to be VaCIE's guests at the luncheon.
Cost
The cost for the luncheon is
- $10 for VaCIE member institutions
- $20 for non-members.
Participating institutions are encouraged to cover all or part of their students' luncheon costs. VaCIE asks that payment be made in advance, and payable to The Virginia Council for International Education, Inc. Checks should be mailed to the VaCIE Treasurer: Mr. Steve Johnson, Director, Study Abroad, Dragas International Center, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA 23529-0093
